Measurement System Analysis & Process Capability

The Symbiotic Relationship of Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Process Capability (Cp/Cpk)

Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Process Capability (Cp/Cpk) are interdependent; one cannot function effectively without the other. Achieving a good Cp/Cpk is impossible without a reliable MSA. Join us for a basic refresher on Cpk, where you'll see how it works and understand its critical reliance on a successful MSA. This interactive session will involve participant engagement.

Quality practitioners need to grasp the fundamental principles of how errors in

variable gaging data can lead to incorrect assumptions about process performance or ineffective corrective actions. It's essential to verify the effectiveness of MSA gaging system results before evaluating process capability.

Participants will receive a high-level overview of Cpk, followed by an overlay of MSA Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (GRR). This will highlight opportunities for alpha and beta errors that may occur with unsuspecting operators or automated measurement systems. This powerful takeaway equips attendees with the knowledge and steps needed to identify and mitigate at-risk systems, which empowers them to reduce variation in the measurement process and, potentially, in the product or process itself, creating the potential for lasting solutions.
